March 2007 Oliver Schrott Kommunikation GmbH today has become the first German agency ever to be awarded the "Logistics Service Award" by the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. (BVL). The leading German logistics association awards the prize for the complex organisation for and around the E-Class long-distance drive from Paris to Beijing which Oliver Schrott Kommunikation realised in autum 2006 as an international PR campaign for DaimlerChrysler.
For the transcontinental marathon, aiming to prove the efficiency of modern diesel technology, 36 E-Class saloons, 24 support vehicles and in total 400 participants from 36 Nation travelled more than 13,600 kilometres in 28 Days, crossing nin countries and six time zones. For the agency, the main challenge apart from the actual communication and event planning lay in setting up a logistic chain without any interruption, to cater for car service, fuel, arrival and departure of guests at the various locations and for the special requirements of the accompanying journalists. In addition to this, the agency organised 14 individual events alongside the route, from the start in Paris to the finish in Beijing.
The BLV jury was impressed by the complexity of the project and remarked in its award reasoning particularly the manifold logistic tasks and requirements in highly varying countries and under partly difficult infrastructural and climatic conditions.
The Logistics Service Award has been established in 2004 and since then has been awarded annually for excellent services of a company with an industry, trade or service background. In the past years, the application committee of Leipzig 2012 was awarded for its Olympia traffic concept, the express delivery service trans-o-flex for a transport system in the healthcare market, and the discounter Woolworth for the customer oriented logistics services.
In the "E-Class Experience", Oliver Schrott Kommunikation apart from the concept development, was responsible for the entire planning, organisation and and operative execution of the long-distance drive, the logistics, the guest management as well as for the development of the accompanying media and press materials.
